Barefoot Lucy has eloquently told the story of how he was "caught",
but you may wonder how he knew about the gathering in the first
place. As I said, we started leaving boxes as bait hoping to catch
him stamping in, and we got close. A letterboxer actually saw him
and his cranberry cruiser leaving an area containing a box with his
stamp, but was not sure it was really him, and we still had no way
to contact him. Finally, a letterboxer left a box with instructions
for the Mystery boxer to please contact her by email after stamping
in. Hard to believe, but this simple plan worked and he emailed her.
Now we had a way to contact him, but only through her since we did
not think it right to publish his email address. She proceeded to
invite him to the upcoming gathering to the delight of all the
attendees. He now lurks on the TX List and has posted a few boxes,
but still remains a bit of a mystery.

As far as how he is able to be first finder on boxes all across the
big state of TX, I can only guess he has the time and money to drive
many miles for 1 box. Most of us wait until an area has several
boxes before making an attempt, but not him!

I'm glad you liked this story and I have purposely kept his trail
name out of it to preserve some of his mystery. I invite y'all to
come visit TX at our Event next March where you might get to meet
him for yourself.

was able to often be the first find at all end of the huge state of
Texas? And how was the boxer "caught"?
